Today I want to discuss the effectiveness of text ads vs. image ads.

Google Adsense allows you to choose between different ads. In my opinion I like text ads far more than image ads. I find them to be much more effective in raising ones click through rates(ctr). This happens for a very important reason. Text ads can be blended into the content of your page easier than an image ad.

Image ads on the other hand stick out like a sore thumb. Now you might think that it would be good to stand out for people to find and click on. Well that would be nice, but internet surfers have become immune to their presence.  Like the banner ads that you see and hate, we have just come to ignore them completely.

So whats an easy way to improve your earnings from adsense? You guessed it, use text ads and blend them into the content on your page.
