This is an interesting question to ponder considering that there a ton of choices. I was reading about this post over at Problogger.net by Darren Rowse. He posted this question that he received from a friend on Twitter.

• If you could use only 3 social sites to work with, what would they be?

These three choices were then subdivided into…

1. Social Bookmarking (Stumbleupon, Digg, Reddit)
2. Social Networking (Myspace, Facebook…)
3. Social Messaging (Twitter, Plurk)

Many of the comments were in favor of using Stumbleupon for content sharing, but Digg for bookmarking.

Facebook was also favored more than Myspace. Some of the comments were about Myspace being more for kids and bands than for business. I still feel its important to use Myspace as there is such a large network to tap. One thing that seems to be unanimous though is that Facebook social apps. are annoying (totally agree).

For the Social Messaging category many were in favor of using Twitter. Many bloggers and people in the industry are using this currently. Some people were also in favor of Plurk.

This was an interesting post to read and would be worth sifting through the comments in order to check out what everyone else is using. Problogger.
