In one of my previous posts I discussed the formula for blogging success. As you will remember the formula is Quality Content + Effective Marketing = Traffic (Income). Now I would like to discuss some ideas on how to effectively market your blog and/or business opportunity. The primary focus will be on free methods of advertisement.

1. Posting comments on other people’s blog.
   Keep in mind that you want to focus on blogs that follow relatively closely to your own niche. You also want your comments to add to that person’s post. Don’t drop/spam comments that just give a link back to your page. Everyone hates this and it will get you banned from leaving them. This method is completely free and if you consistently leave comments on other blogs everyday you can expect to see some traffic. This method is good for newbies as it requires little technical skill.
2. Joining a forum and posting a thread/comment.
   This is along the same lines as a blog comment but can be effective at driving traffic to your blog. There are usually places on the forum for reviews of your site. Just post a thread asking people to check out your site and give a review. You could also start a thread about a topic that you know well. This will get you traffic and help to establish some credibility(if done correctly).
3. Write a free report on an area that you know pretty well and release it on your blog.
   If you have given something of value it will further establish credibility and people will want to check back to your site often.  This also gives you the opportunity to link to other sites that you might have or to market affiliate opportunities.
4. Make a video about your site or opportunity and post it to Youtube.
   This is a free and very effective marketing tool. You can place your url in the video itself and in the video description. It does however involve a little more work but will pay off better than just leaving comments on others blogs and forums.

So there you have it. I have given you four free and very effective methods for generating traffic to your site or opportunity. It will require that you work a little everyday on marketing in order to see any gains in your traffic.
